A name beside a moving dot

AIS shares vessel information, but a screen is only as good as the information reaching it.

In 30 seconds

  1. Identity, position, course and speed help build traffic awareness.
  2. Missing or incorrect data can create an incomplete picture.
  3. Compare information with other available observations and approved bridge procedures.
Make it concrete

In a classroom sketch, remove one vessel’s AIS label. The vessel still exists. A missing symbol is not proof of empty water.

  1. 01Vessel data
  2. 02AIS message
  3. 03Traffic picture
